Soundwaters Field Trip
It was chilly and quite windy at the beach today, but that didn't stop us. We had so much fun investigating and learning all about life in the Long Island Sound. We rotated through 3 stations. First, we collected shells and sorted them by type. We found the most oyster shells. Then, we used nets to scoop plankton out of the Sound. We viewed them under microscopes and were amazed to see what those teeny specs looked like up close. Last, we learned about animals and got to explore the touch ranks of flounder, sea stars, crabs and more. Here's just a glimpse of some of our fun.

Pencil Magic
No, it's not really magic...it's science! We got pencils to balance on their point. Ask your child about the trick to making something balance.

St. Patrick's Day Writing
After hearing tales of leprechauns and pots of gold at the end of rainbows, students thought about what they would do if they found a pot of gold. We got many wonderful and thoughtful answers such as....
-buy a phone
-buy a lot of dogs that I would hug and walk every day
-buy a car for when I'm 16
-buy food for poor people
-give it to people that don't have money
And one of my favorites...
-buy Springdale School
(I think someone wants to be my boss one day) :)
Look at our beatiful display.

Dr. Seuss Fun
Later on in the afternoon, things got a little wacky in room 8. When the class came back from Art, they found many surprises such as new "pet fish" (a tank full of water and goldfish crackers) upside down chairs, stuffed animals in their seats and more. They thought their teacher had gone nuts, but it was just Wacky Wednesday.
